Mail Kiosk Safety & Preparing for Winter

Greetings Timberline Neighbors!
The TSSD board would like to remind residents to drive slowly & safely on our roads.

Mail Kiosk / Bus Stop — With the arrival of new families, we have many more children using the School Bus stop at our mail kiosk.

Drivers — Please slow down & proceed with caution when turning into our neighborhood, regardless of the season. Especially if you're coming downhill eastbound on Kilby Rd, as it’s somewhat of a blind turn into our neighborhood. During the winter, the paved entry into Timberline becomes EXTREMELY slick with ice and cars often loose control, sliding right thru the entry. Please be mindful of your speed & approach turning into the neighborhood.

Parents - Please have your kids wait for the bus INSIDE the kiosk or right by it. NOT ON THE PAVED SURFACE.

Winter Driving —

1. Please review our neighborhood winter driving rules and talk to young drivers and visitors about them. Remember, we have (3) three maintained parking lots below the mail kiosk for those who chose not to navigate our roads. Utilize them.

2. We still have electric company crews working in the neighborhood so please give them plenty of room.

3. If you have major deliveries of large items, or construction projects, your time is running out. Please take advantage of our last few days of clear roads. As the weather changes and we see more precipitation, the roads become vulnerable to damage until the snow base is established.

4. Snow stakes & winter signage have been placed by our roads staff. These are primarily placed to guide our tractor and skid steer operators during storms but are also useful for all of you. Please leave them alone and if you accidentally knock one over, email Kris (mountainrok511@hotmail.com) and let him know where so it can be replace.

5. For our new neighbors, please don’t salt on your driveways. Use sand or another aggregate. Salt ruins the hard packed road surface and will create substantial problems for other neighbors and road crews.

6. Please remember that the paved pitches of Douglas and lower Balsam can be challenging and dangerous with the onset of winter conditions. Don’t attempt to drive them if you’re not prepared.

7. Amazon drivers continue to elevate safety risks in the neighborhood during winter months - often getting stuck and blocking roads for residents and emergency vehicles. Amazon, unfortunately is unresponsive to our concerns about only assigning 4x4 wheel drivers to our neighborhood. TSSD is attempting to enclose the mail kiosk to make it a safer space for drop off deliveries. In the meantime, you can help prevent congestion on our road by having Amazon packages delivered to the FREE Amazon kiosk at Whole Foods in Kimball Junction until a more permanent solution is realized.

8. Please inspect the trees and bushes along your property lines with the road. If branches break the vertical plane from the edge of the road up 15 feet they must be removed by the property owner. Our road staff will inspect and clear culverts along with trimming trees over the next few weeks weeks. These actions are necessary so the tractor isn’t damaged during winter maintenance.

Thank you for your care & attention to these matters - it goes a long way in helping us keep our roads safe and in good condition moving into the winter months.
